Online Limerick Contest

Congratulations to the Limerick Contest Winners from 2009!

1st place, youth – Bri, Frenchman Butte
Here we are as lucky as can be
Books and so much more for all to see.
There’s fiction, mystery,
Plus tons of history!
For lots of fun, come along with me.

2nd place, youth – George-Paule, Moose Jaw
There once was a boy who hated books
He gave readers funny looks
He didn’t try to read,
Warnings he did not heed
He ended up becoming a crook!

2nd place, youth – Kaitlyn, Kenaston
Dive in a book and fly far away,
Go to a place where forests will sway,
Where birds will always sing,
Where bells happily ring,
A book, this is where I hope to stay.

1st place, teen – Katrina, North Battleford
I started a new book today,
I just couldn’t put it away,
The tale was intriguing,
I could not stop reading,
My homework’s in great disarray.

2nd place, teen – Chantel, Wilkie
Libraries are a magical place,
They captivate you with their embrace.
They are hard to resist,
It’s great that they exist,
As soon as school’s out, that’s where kids race.

2nd place, teen – Sheldon, Humbodt
If you ever want to read a book
The library is where you should look
Many different pltos
History you forgot
You will be happy that you partook.

1st place, adult – Lyne , St. Walburg
I live in a Town on the Prairie
And winters can get pretty scary
But I really don’t mind
Cause I always can find
Great books at my local Library.

2nd place, adult – Brenda, Esterhazy
Excellence, Honour, Spirit to go
Our library is the best you know!
The hours are great,
Come early, stay late,
The books and knowledge are free to flow.

2nd place, adult – Diane, Saskatoon
You can’t substitute a good read
It fulfills something that we all need
So give it a try
And you’ll understand why
To read is a privilege indeed.

There once was a limerick contest…

  • Your original work
