Sask Designations Project

The Saskatchewan Designation Project is the creation of a distinctive sticker with a logo for use as a unique visual identification for recognizing and identifying Saskatchewan produced literary, musical, and visual materials, especially in libraries.

We’ve made it easy for you to identify Saskatchewan created products. For materials in your library there are stickers available, free of charge, to place on the spines of Saskatchewan-created materials. Please contact the SLA office for more information or to request your roll of stickers. Also see the Saskatchewan Book Awards website for more information on Saskatchewan books. There is more information in the brochure, which is easy to follow for staff and patrons alike.

Background
The Saskatchewan Library Association, Saskatchewan Publisher’s Group, Saskatchewan Writers Guild, Saskatchewan Book Awards, Saskatchewan Motion Picture Association, Saskatchewan Recording Industry Association, Saskatchewan School Library Association, & the Saskatchewan Multitype Library Board are pleased to announce the Saskatchewan Designations Project as of September 1, 2005.

Designating Saskatchewan created materials will extend the knowledge of cultural based products in communities throughout the province, potentially generate additional cultural initiatives, and expand awareness of the cultural undertakings in the province. It is also expected that in all likelihood designating Saskatchewan products will create additional spin-offs and activities, including the enhancement of cultural industries in several sectors, such as film & video, publishing, writing, and music with a potential to provide enrichment in other areas, such as theatre, storytelling, dance, and visual arts.

The Saskatchewan Designations project is one that is intended to complement and build upon the combined existing assets already provided by various organizations in creating bibliographies of Saskatchewan products. It is meant to develop awareness of resources to the general populace, as an enhancement to enable future initiatives and successes to cultural industries, to encourage involvement from diverse sectors of society, to further develop partnerships with other provincial cultural organizations, and to collaborate and share resources. Most importantly, the designation of Saskatchewan materials will create an ongoing impact and legacy.
