Continuing Education Grant
The SLA Continuing Education Workshop Grant is intended to support and recognize continuing education activities, undertaken by individual or institutional SLA members, which further the mission of SLA. This fund provides a tangible way for the Association to foster member development and encourage continuing education, professional development and networking.

Background:
Subject to the availability of funds, the SLA Continuing Education Workshop Grant will be awarded to members in good standing, whose initiatives meet the terms of reference and the merit criteria. The SLA Board of Directors will determine the amount of money to be allocated to the fund for each coming year at the Fall Board Meeting normally held in September. The amount of funding available will be posted on the SLA website and updated as needed throughout the year.
Terms of Reference:
- Applicant must be a current member in good standing (individual or institutional designate) of SLA.
- The event must take place in Saskatchewan.
- The event must be open to individuals outside of the originating organization.
- SLA should be listed as a co-sponsoring association on the program or advertising.
- If revenue of the event exceeds expenses, the profit up to the total of the grant, must be returned to the SLA.
- Priority will be given to those who have not previously been awarded funds through this program.
- Recipients will be required to submit a final report within one month of the event.
Merit Criteria:
- Potential to reach a reasonably broad base of the library community
- Potential benefit to the professional development or knowledgebase of the Saskatchewan Library Community
- Use of innovative approaches to continuing education
Application Process:
- Applications will be accepted continuously, and will be assessed and awarded three times throughout the year, usually in mid-October, mid-January and mid-May (subject to the availability of funds).
- Applications are sent to the Executive Director SLA and forwarded to the members of the Continuing Education Committee.
- Committee members will award the grants via Committee decision.
- Executive Director will contact the recipient and award the grant funds within seven days of the committee decision.
