Continuing Education for library staff is a vital element of the SLA Mission. A work force that is aware of the trends in libraries and information is vital to excellent library service in Saskatchewan. SLA offers its members a variety of opportunities for continued learning.
SLA offers members an opportunity to apply for grants for continuing education on August 15 and February 15 annually. These grants are for personal pursuit or providing a workshop for colleagues.
SLA has been entrusted with monies to provide the Maureen Woods Education Bursary of $5000 annually to MLIS students and the Mary Donaldson Award of Merit for a Library and Information Technology student of $1200 annually.
SLA participates in a network of provincial and territorial library associations to provide many valuable opportunities for members to participate in learning events.
