<p align="center"><em>Celebrating Our Past, Embracing Our Future</em></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Program Committee for the 2012 Saskatchewan Libraries Annual Conference invites you to submit a session proposal for the 2012 conference to<em> </em>be held at the Ramada Inn from May 3-5, 2012 in Regina.  In recognition of SLA’s 70<sup>th</sup> anniversary, the theme of this year’s conference is <em>Celebrating Our Past, Embracing Our Future.</em></p>
<p>We are asking you as colleagues and facilitators to develop and submit presentations or sessions that will expand our collective thinking and energize our communities.</p>
<p>Session formats can include the following:</p>
<p><strong>Presentations</strong>, approximately 30 minutes in length with 30 minutes for Q &amp; A. Sessions that are practical and interactive in nature are preferred.</p>
<p><strong>“Spotlight On” sessions</strong> can feature 10 minute talks by a group of individual presenters.  Themes can include use of technology in the library, marketing initiatives, community engagement, unconventional use of library space &amp; resources, readers’ advisory, etc.</p>
<p><strong>“Hot Topics”:  </strong>Discuss a contentious issue in librarianship with your colleagues and a moderator.</p>
<p>If you have a proposal that does not fit into these formats, please contact us to discuss your ideas! 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Saskatchewan Library Association would like to invite you to attend an information session on the distance education available at the University of Alberta, School of Library and Information Studies. May 7<sup>th</sup>, 3:30 &#8211; 4:30 pm at TCU Place in Saskatoon.</p>
<p>Ernie Ingles, Director of School of Library and Information Studies, University of Alberta, will come to Saskatoon before the 2011 Saskatchewan Libraries Conference to speak to library directors and other stakeholders on the possibility of the U of A offering online distance education in the library field.  Their focus would be library staff in small to media libraries (including public libraries) who are seeking the MILS degree. This is an opportunity for the library school to get your input on how this program would be. Please feel free to pass this information onto other organizations.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We are pleased to announce the 2011 Mary Donaldson Memorial Lecture will be presented by  Brad Fraser, well-know playwright, director, writer and talk show host.</p>
<p>This year’s lecture is entitled is <em>Censorship – Curse or Gift? </em> The lecture will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011, 2:15 pm, TCU Place in Saskatoon.</p>
<p> The Mary Donaldson Memorial Lecture Series was established by the Saskatchewan Library Association in 1967 to honour the memory of Mary Donaldson, who served Saskatchewan as an outstanding Provincial Librarian from 1951 until her death in 1966. This grant is made possible through the generosity of the Provincial  Library and Literacy Office, Ministry of Education and in conjunction  with the Multitype Library Board.</p>

<p><strong>Criteria</strong></p>
<p>Applicants:</p>
<ul>
<li>must be an SLA member; if you are not a member you can join the association by completing a <a href=" http://saskla.ca/members">membership form</a>.</li>
<li>must be currently employed in a Saskatchewan library location outside of Regina and Saskatoon.</li>
<li>must be a resident of Saskatchewan.</li>
<li>must not have attended a Saskatchewan Libraries Conference in the past.</li>
</ul>
<p>Expenses covered to attend the conference include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Full conference registration, including Awards Luncheon.</li>
<li>Travel expenses – mileage and per diems according to SLA rates.</li>
<li>Two nights hotel accommodation.</li>
</ul>
<p>An expense form is to be submitted to the Saskatchewan Library  Association along with receipts following the conference. A  reimbursement cheque will be issued.</p>
<p>Please complete the <a href="http://saskla.ca/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Saskatchewan-Libraries-Conference-Grant-2011-Application.doc">application form</a> by <strong>April 4, 2011</strong> including a statement of why you would like to attend the conference. The winner will be announced the week of <strong>April 11, 2011.</strong></p>
<p>The first winner in 2010 was selected randomly. In the following  years, preference will be given to those regions who have not previously  received the grant.</p>
