If we Canadians want our Kindles to work with the public library, doesn't that mean we Canadians have to lobby for it. Lobby Amazon and lobby Overdrive. If someone who knows how to go about sets up a petition, I assure you I would sign! And so would a whole lot of other Kindle users, both library employees and general public. What do we need to do to get this going?

At this point I do not have the patiences to deal with waiting for the buffering. I do better waiting on the holds list, but once it is in front of me it had better play right now with no hiccups. But I do see what you are saying, and it is good to have it acknowledged now.

I am writing to find our more about 2011 Saskatchewan Library Week. I am the Project Supervisor for Canada World Youth in Prince Albert. We run exchange programs between Nicaragua and Prince Albert. Many of our youth have use the public library in Prince Albert.

On October 19, 2011, Canada World Youth (CWY) will be celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Founded in 1971 by the late Honourable Jacques Hébert (1923-2007), Canada World Youth’s mission has remained constant: to increase the ability of people, and especially youth, to participate actively in the development of just, harmonious, and sustainable societies. Our action-oriented and innovative approach has allowed CWY to remain an influential organisation in youth leadership development. Over the years, 34,000 young volunteers have participated in CWY programs, hosted by 11,000 host families located in more than 600 Canadian communities as well as in 67 countries around the world.

What activities will the Prince Albert library be planning for this week? Perhaps we could help and do something in conjunction. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks

I agree the students and staff at John Diefenbaker school did a wonderful job hosting the Gala to announce the Willow Winners for 2010.
I smile every time I drink a cup of coffee out the glass coffee mug they gave board members.
It was a thrill to be present to feel the enthusiasm in the building. Reading is alive and well in the province!

Right on! I am tired of being treated a second class citizen because I choose to read and borrow books from my public library in digital format. Shame on HarperCollins for imposing the 26 loan cap on Overdrive. There is no way in hell HarperCollins is doing this to "protect" their authors. When are publishers going to stop seeing me as a "walking wallet" and stop gouging me with e-book prices? If I wanted to pay more than $20 for an ebook, I better have the ability to print the pages, add notes/highlight text and even lend the ebook to a friend. Publishers should not have the right to tell me what I can or cannot do with their ebooks especially if I have legally paid for them. Grrr!!!

I encourage all of my colleagues to read more this issue and distribute the eBook User's Bill of Rights via their blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. HarperCollins needs to hear from all of us, as both consumers and librarians, that we do not accept their new terms of agreement with Overdrive and that libraries are NOT the "enemies".
