Governance and Duties of Director for Special Libraries

  1. Is elected for a two-year term, which can be renewed, and is a member of the Board.
  2. Is responsible for communicating SLA policies and procedures with members of the special library sector of SLA.
  3. Is responsible for communicating the needs of the Special Library sector to the SLA Board. As a member of the SLA Board, helps to create policy, programs and special projects, which are beneficial to the special library sector and reflect the interests of the sector.
  4. Is a member of the Continuing Education Committee. Through this committee, helps to produce training and education opportunities, which are useful for members of the special library sector.
  5. Is a member of the Membership Committee. Through this committee, tries to increase the membership of SLA in the special library sector.
  6. It is a duty of the Director to ensure that special library sector is represented on the Conference Program Planning Committee.
  7. Liaises with various special library communities, provincially, nationally and internationally.
  8. Reports to the Board at every meeting.
