Governance and Duties of Past President
- Convenes the Nominating Committee and acts as Chief Returning Officer of the Elections Committee.
- Functions as Parliamentarian at the Annual General Meeting, or appoints someone else with the approval of the Board.
- Ensures that meetings are conducted according to the rules accepted in Article 13 of the Bylaws of the Association.
- Works with the Executive Director to maintain the Handbook and to ensure that a complete and current copy is available for each Board member.
- Works with the President to recruit members for committees. Convenes the Nominating Committee.
- Serves on the Executive and Personnel Committees.
- The Past President shall recommend to the Board, people to sit on the Conference Planning Committee and shall liaise with that Committee.
- Sits as an ex-officio member of the Mary Donaldson Memorial Trust Committee and is responsible for obtaining a copy of the Mary Donaldson Lecture (in print and electronic if possible); obtaining a signed Copyright Release form from the lecturer; and passing the lecture to the Director for Communications for publishing.
- Represents the Association to the media, to other Associations, and other formal capacities in the absence of the President and the Vice President.
